(144898) 2004 VD17

Asteroid 2004 VD17 was discovered on November 7, 2004 by the NASA-founded LINEAR asteroid survey.
This asteroid has led the Earth-impact hazard list since November 22, 2004.
On March 20, 2006, the observation arc of 2004 VD17 significantly increased from 487 to 1482 days because of additional reporting of precovery positions from February 16, 2002. In a consequence the impact risk dropped from the level 2 to level 1 in Torino Scale .
It has a diameter of about 320 meters and rotational period 1.99 hrs (De Luise et al. 2007, Icarus 191, 828-635).

Impact date: 2102 05 04.891(UT)   Vimpact= 21.634 km/sec   Ψimpact = 26°.56

dev/σ
Deviation from the nominal orbit parameter divided by the respective uncertainty.
Vimpact
The velocity of the asteroid relative to the Earth at the moment of impact.
Ψimpact
The impact angle is measured from the vertical axis that goes through the impact point. Thus, the impact angle is 0 degrees for a vertical impact.
rms
Root mean square for the derived impact orbit.
